Product Description:
The tiny medieval town Campofilone (1,800 residents) is considered the birthplace of egg pasta in Italy. An ancient fort town in the province of Ascoli, it is home to the Abbey of San Bartolomeo, which first reported the existence of maccheroncini in the 15th century. Long considered a noble dish, Campofilones favorite local dish is now celebrated in a famous local feast - a Sagra dei Maccheroncini - each August.

Vincenzo Spinosi is rapidly gaining acclaim as the worlds Prince of Pasta and is carrying on a family tradition that began in 1933. He uses locally raised fresh whole eggs and carefully selected durum wheat semolina. From his humble roots in his familys pastificio, Vincenzo has become something of a celebrity in international culinary circles and his pasta is now served in fine restaurants around the world, including several in the Far East and Asia. His egg pasta has been praised as the best available and closest to fresh, homemade egg pasta by a bevy of food reviewers, writers and chefs, including our own Michelin star chef Gianluca Guglielmi and Nigella Lawson. In 2000, he was rewarded with the International Five Star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality and Sciences. Previous recipients of this award were Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Margaret Thatcher.

Vincenzo recommends pairing his super-fine, thin pasta with tomato-based, oil-based or seafood sauces

Review of Lazzaroni Amaretti di Saronno Cookies Cube Tin 16 oz.

My first encounter with these darling little treats was while watching Everyday Italian on the Food Network starring Giada De Laurentiis, my favorite chef of the past few years. She crumbled them into deserts, coffees, made pumpkin ravioli with it, baked amaretti apples and always praised their magical taste. Upon finally purchasing a box myself I was blown away by the hypnotic and addictive taste of marzipan in these little gems.

Amaretti Cookies are packed as a pair, wrapped in wax paper with Italian writing and insignias, praising its originality. They are two small crackling cookies per wrapper and they are a crunchy shell of delight. The taste is strangely addictive, after having a few I couldn't stop thinking about them! I have even purchased three more boxes two days after getting the first one. They taste like the holidays, spicy and lusciously laden with almonds and crispy sugary goodness with a tiny tang of bitterness of the almond. They flavor is royal and time stopping, on busy days, one bite of this cookie and I am transfixed into magical fields of luxurious old world taste that has been popular to Italians for years.

Incredibly aromatic crispy almond cookies that are a luscious addiction to coffee, tea or wine and are great for cooking and baking with. They really grew on me, I think I am an addict to their taste now, no wonder Giada is so smitten with them!

- Kasia S.

Review of Cipriani Tagliarelle Extra Thin Egg Pasta

I have been looking for Cipriani Pasta locally and Williams Sonoma does not carry it anymore. This pasta tastes like fresh pasta and is wonderful with white truffle butter and chives.Enjoy!

Click Here to see more reviews about: Cipriani Tagliarelle Extra Thin Egg Pasta

Product Description:
Cipriani has always made their own pasta and the experience they have gained over the years, has taught them that in egg pasta, there are three important elements. The flour must be made from durum wheat, the best grade eggs must be used and the pasta must be worked with care, rolled over and over again, never so much as to overheat it, but enough to give it that special quality. If all these precepts are followed, the pasta will have the essential characteristics of being both firm and soft. Two attributes that would seem to be in opposition, but which real pasta lovers recognize perfectly. If pasta of this class is then dried slowly at a low temperature, the resulting product will be unique.Serves 5 and cooks in 4 minutes.

Review of Balsamic vinegar Nr 12 "Riserva", 8.5 fl oz

This is the best. Very mellow and full bodied. It's outstanding with good quality extra virgin olive oil for a dipping for bread. It's also good drizzled on roasted baby potatoes. A little goes a long way. Keep your finger over the top when you drizzle, so you don't accidentally pour too much out.

Review of Spaghetti by Martelli, Toscana

I cook a lot of pasta, but don't have the time or patience to make my own. This is the finest dried pasta I have ever cooked. My guests always agree. It has a chewiness and ability to hold sauce that is outstanding. Rarely sticks (only if you totally ignore it in the pot.) Worth the effort--far above the best usual store brands.

Review of Manicardi Aged Balsamic Vinegar #12

To be honest, for the price, this is very good Balsamic Vinegar.I know that the price is rather low for quality vinegar and I was a bit leery of that aspect being a firm believer in that you get what you pay for.In this case that old saying just did not apply. As inexpensive as this is, the quality is actually quite high.

I use quite a lot of this stuff in my cooking and a very large number of my salad dressings have this as an ingredient. It would take an extremely sophisticated taste to tell this product from the more expensive vinegars and for everyday cooking I find that this Manicardi #12 more than fits the bill. Frankly, I was rather amazed at what I got for my money here.

Like all Balsamic Vinegars, it takes a bit of experience to know where the cut off point is and where too much is too much...this product is no exception to that rule.A light hand at first is the best policy.

I highly recommend this. You get the tasteyou want, the essence, without having to sell off an expensive piece of jewelry each time you cook or whip a salad into being.

Review of Fra Mani Handcrafted Salumi Salametto Dry Salami

If you are looking for a real salami this is the product you want to buy. Having traveled and worked in Italy, I can say this salami is as good as its get, considering it is crafted in the US! We are from Switzerland, living in the US for the last 10 years and often brought back Salami from Italy when we were in Europe (well, we know how the guys at the border control would respond to our treasures...). So I was very pleased to find a "legal" source in the US to buy a GOOD salami. But on the other hand, you need to have the taste-buts for this kind of sausage! Enjoy!

This sampler features four cheeses that are typical of four distinct regions of Italy:
  • Provolone Piccante: We love this Piccante version, which is rarely available in the U.S .and much more interesting than the mild Provolone most Americans have come to know. One of the great sandwich cheeses, Provolone Piccante is also an excellent melting cheese that is perfect in omelettes or atop a toasted baguette.(8 oz.)
  • Grana Padano Stravecchio: The original hard Italian cheese, Grana Padano is a firm, dry, fruity cheese from the Po Valley of Northern Italy. Stravecchio is aged for an optimal 20 months.Grate it over pasta, vegetables, or soup; or serve it as a table cheese drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. (8 oz.)
  • Mountain Gorgonzola: Italy's famous blue cheese comes from Lombardy.Made from cow's milk taken from local herds that graze on beautiful rolling pastures, no Italian Cheese Assortment would be complete without a cut of authentic Gorgonzola. (8 oz.)
  • Pecorino Toscano: This soft, sheep's milk cheese is made in the hills of Tuscany. It is young, sweet and springy. We find that this combination well represents the wide variety of flavors and textures found in Italian cheeses. (8 oz.)

Review of Olio Carli Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 750ml Bottle (750 ml) by igourmet.com

Edited my review, tried to upgrade to 4 stars, would not let me. Received Fratelli's introductory case of 1/2 liter bottles of extra virgin olive oil today.Read many reviews of 5 stars, 4 stars for the rest. I use a lot of olive oil. Some reviewers say this oil is sweet as extremely good oil should be.To me, it initially has a smooth, buttery, fruity olive flavor. A second or two later, it was peppery near the back of the tongue, followed by a slight bitterness further back on the tongue. Would not describe it as sweet. It is my understanding that many Italians prefer this pepperyness and I am Italian, but I do not.Not sure if my sample is typical.I feel this is a very good oil,and a great bargain at the introductory price, but not worth full price to me. I will stick to my Goya Extra Virgin First cold Pressed olive oil.......yes, Spanish olive oil.No bitterness whatsoever, made from very ripe olives....my "Gold Standard" (Goya is very golden) I like my wine very full-bodied and fruity....hate wines that are very dry.guess my tastes in olive oil and wine are congruent.

Why are Italians so religious about their Olio Carli? For one, no oil from pomace or any source other than fresh ripe olives is ever used in the production of Carli Olive Oil. Secondly, although the strictest legislation allows a maximum acidity of 1% in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the maximum acidity allowed by Carli in its olive oil is 0.3%. Olio Carli has been honored frequently at national and international expositions. Embossed on the label of these fine oils, you can read the following distinctions:
